Php - Contact Form To Download File And Save Info In Database?

Aug 24, 2012

To keep it simple this is what im trying to acheive.

user fills in the form
fields are validated if filled properly
when form submitted, check for all validation, if not then show error, if yes
email form details to my email
store same details into mysql database
show thank you message
download pdf file from within the folder

I've managed to do all of that but im facing one issue. when user click on download button without filling anything, they get an error but an empty row is added to the database. If they fill incorrect form they still see an error, but now there are 2 rows in the database. AND if they fill everything correctly, they see thanks you message and also get to download the file but it still add 2 rows in the table.

here is code for index.html

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "[URL]">

Download File Using Php Form?

Apr 10, 2013

Im just at the end of developing a prototype that allows users to select some options via dynamic dropdowns and then upload a small file to mysql. I have just completed the search function that works fine and returns the results correctly. Whats had me stuck for the last few days is allowing a user to download one of the files returned in the search result.

Ive put the results into a html table and used a form for a download option, this is where I suspect the problem lies with the form because when I have messed around the file download works but when a user hits search on the previous page. My reading has got me this far and I have viewed some questions but none seem to do the trick.

Here is the script for results_page.php

if (isset ($resultts) and ($tests))
{
$sql = "SELECT p.logID, p.fileData, p.fileName, p.mimeType, p.dateCreated, t.testName, r.resultType
FROM result AS r
INNER JOIN product_logs AS p

I'm not sure if I have inserted my table right in my database, i have tried a totally blank table and adding the fields manually eg. name, address etc.

PHP - Save To Serialized Info With Quotes

Nov 24, 2012

Trying to save serialized string to SQL, but then i am having problems with unserializing it because of quotes.Example, string is "te'st", after serialize we have s:5:"te'st"; But to save it to SQL we need to add slashes, and i am doing serialize(addslashes($string)) after this, in our MySQL db we have s:6:"te'st";

And this is the problem. s:6 means we have 6 symbols string, but our "te'st" is only 5, so when we trying to unserialize it, we getting error. Tried htmlspecialchars and mysql_real_escape_string ...How i use mysql_real_escape_string

mysql_query("INSERT INTO `table`(`string`) VALUES ('" . serialize(array('iId' =>$aSqlResult['typeID'], 'sName' => mysql_real_escape_string($sScanResultLine))) . "')");

Php - Using The Browser Prompt To Download A File?

Jul 3, 2012

I have a php/mysql site in which I am trying to download a comma delimited file (CSV). The csv file I create contains comma delimited data (name, address, city, state). I create the csv file ok and place it in the site's /downloads directory. So far so good. I have been looking on line and the code to trigger the browser's download prompt that I see the most often is:

$path = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'];
$exportfile = "emailclientaddresses.csv";
$fullpath = "downloads/" . $exportfile;
header("Content-type: text/plain");
header("Content-Length: ".filesize($exportfile));
header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=" . $fullpath);

The $exportfile is the csv file that my code created. It's ok. What this does is:

The $fullpath is displayed in the browser download prompt in a very weird format: download_emailclientaddresses.csv When it does download, the current webpage is downloaded or a combination of the csv file and the current web page.OK, I have tried a lot of things and nothing has worked.

Amazon S3 - Proper Query To Accurately Collate File Download Statistics

Oct 17, 2012

I'm using Amazon S3 to serve MP3 files for a podcast. Amazon provides access logs, which I'm fetching and storing in a MySQL database. The database looks like this:

request_id varchar(16)
time int(10)
file varchar(255)
sent bigint(20)
size bigint(20)
status smallint(5)
ip varchar(39)
referrer varchar(255)
user_agent varchar(255)

Because this is a podcast, a huge number of hits are 206 range requests (from iTunes/iOS), requesting each file in small chunks.

I also have some people downloading the file more than once.

So what I am trying to do is construct a query which:

provides only one result per-file, per-IP (so each IP/person can only count as one "hit" for each file). sums the total of all bytes sent (sent column) per file/IP so I can see what the total of all the range requests for that particular file/IP combination was. BONUS: compares the summed total of the sent column per file/IP and only returns that result if that sum total of bytes is >= 75% of the size column (currently I'm doing this comparison post-query with PHP).

Here's what I'm using currently, which I believe is working, but the complete ramifications of GROUP BY are a mystery to me (for example - does the column order in GROUP BY matter?):

SELECT FROM_UNIXTIME(time,'%M %D') as date, ip, file, SUM(sent) as sent, size
FROM stats
WHERE sent > 0
AND size > 0
AND FROM_UNIXTIME(time, '%Y-%m-%d') >= '2012-09-01'
AND FROM_UNIXTIME(time, '%Y-%m-%d') <= '2012-09-30'
GROUP BY ip, file
ORDER BY time ASC, file ASC
